Hello everyone, this is DIY Renova.
“I heard that the price will go up in 2026, but should I buy it now?”
When doing self-renovation, the effects of price increases will be more direct on items that are more expensive and difficult to change later, such as windows, doors, kitchens, and flooring.
However, if you rush to buy, you may end up losing money due to problems with storage space, changes in specifications, warranties/model changes, and non-cancellation. In this article, as of December 28, 2025, we will organize the manufacturers whose prices have been announced for 2026 from a DIY perspective, and summarize them in one book that will help you decide on last-minute purchases.
If you're wondering "How much renovation or remodeling can I actually do on my own home?" or "Where should I even start?", please visit this page. If you're looking to learn more about specific renovation processes or construction details, don't miss this page as well!

So, here you go.
Important note first
The “price increase date” is easily misinterpreted even when announced by the manufacturer.
There are three main criteria for price revisions:
- "From orders": Based on the day the order is received (for DIY, the timing of estimate → order is important)
- “From the order”: The standard is the date when the retailer/agent places the order with the manufacturer (if it is DIY, the processing date on the shop side may deviate)
- "From shipments": Factory shipments are the standard (it's easy to cross over if the delivery time is long)
It is safe to always check the manufacturer's wording and ask the retailer what timing is the applicable standard (the table in this article is based on the standard dates announced by each company).
"Revision rate" is a guideline. Up and down by product number
Even within the same manufacturer, revision rates usually vary greatly depending on series and options. For example, LIXIL shows the average revision rate for each category, but only for "some products."LIXIL Corporation.
List of manufacturers with “price revisions announced” in 2026
The list below is limited to only those that have been confirmed as "official release/official publication page" or "reported as release content in industry newspapers" (information that is only rumored or spread on SNS is not included).
| Manufacturer | Main targets (building materials/fittings/housing equipment) | Implementation timing of price revision | Approximate revision rate | basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LIXIL | Parts of residential sashes/doors, metal siding, exteriors, building sashes, etc. | From 2026/4/1 (*some 5/1) orders | The average cost for residential sashes and doors is about 5%, and the average cost for metal siding is about 5%. | LIXIL Corporation. |
| YKK AP | Residential products, exteriors, metal exterior materials, building products | From orders received on May 1, 2026 (report basis) | Approximately 5-10% (report) | Shinken Housing. Kensetsu Tsushin Shimbun Digital. |
| Panasonic | Electrical materials, lighting, system equipment, branch faucets, built-in dishwashers, air conditioners for residential equipment | 2026/1/1~4/1 (varies by item) | Presented in separate sheet (width by item) | Panasonic Newsroom Global.e-sugimoto.co.jp. |
| Eidai Industry (EIDAI) | Flooring, interior stairs, interior doors, storage, etc. | From orders received on January 5, 2026 | 5% (release description/reporting) | eidai.com.eidai.com. |
| takara standard | Part of the kitchen, bathroom, washroom etc. | From orders placed on April 1, 2026 | Width by product (e.g. 7-10% for kitchen set) | Hashimoto Sogyo Co., Ltd. |
By manufacturer: Focus only on the points that have a big impact on DIY

LIXIL (2026/4/1~Partly 5/1)
LIXIL has announced ``partial revisions to manufacturer's suggested retail prices'' for building materials and equipment, and the implementation date is ``from April 1, 2026 (sometimes May 1) for orders received''.LIXIL Corporation.
The scope is wide-ranging, and the following points should be especially noted if they are directly connected to DIY.
- "Residential sashes and doors": Average of about 5% (however, there are some cases where the average is about 10%, so there are differences depending on the category)biz-lixil.com.
- "Metal siding (main body/accessories)": Average of about 5%biz-lixil.com
- "Exterior (fences, gates, carports, decks, etc.)": Average of about 5% is often mentioned.biz-lixil.com
Reality from a DIY perspective:
For windows, entrance doors, and exterior systems, the process of ``on-site measurement → finalization of specifications → delivery date'' is long, and it may be too late to get things started in the new year in order to make it in time before the price increases. Especially when it comes to windows, the opening dimensions must be determined, so those who haven't finished demolition are more likely to rush into buying and make mistakes.
YKK AP (from orders received on May 1, 2026, based on press)
According to a report in the industry press, YKK AP will revise the prices of residential products, exterior products, metal exterior materials, and building products "from orders received on May 1, 2026," and the price increases will be "approximately 5 to 10%."Shinken Housing.
Things that often come up for DIY are sashes, entrance doors, shutters, exterior materials, balconies, and fences.
This can easily cost hundreds of thousands of yen to several million yen for a complete set, so even a few percent revision rate is painful.
Note:
Since it is based on news reports, it is a good idea to check the ``manufacturer's official information document (PDF)'' at the store before actually placing an order (most stores have it).
Panasonic (2026/1/1~4/1)
Panasonic has different revision dates for each item, and if you are doing DIY, you will be stuck at the timing of electrical work and equipment updates.
- Electrical equipment materials (wiring equipment, electrical equipment panels, piping equipment, etc.): 2026/1/1Panasonic Newsroom Global
- Lighting equipment: 2026/1/1Panasonic Newsroom Global
- Branch faucet: 2026/2/1Panasonic Newsroom Global
- Built-in dishwasher: 2026/3/1Panasonic Newsroom Global
- Air conditioner for residential equipment: 2026/4/1Panasonic Newsroom Global
Tips from a DIY perspective:
While it is relatively easy to make last-minute arrangements for electrical equipment materials and lighting ``if the part number is confirmed,'' they are also affected by model changes and specification changes. In particular, when it comes to housing equipment, the sooner you buy it and put it to rest, the more disadvantageous it may be in terms of warranties starting and early failure handling, so it is best to only buy items that will be installed soon.
Eidai Industry (EIDAI) (from orders received on January 5, 2026)
Eidai Sangyo has announced that it will revise the catalog prices for flooring materials, interior stairs, interior doors, storage, etc. starting from January 5, 2026, for orders received.eidai.com.
Reports say the price increase will be 5%.Shinken Housing
The areas that are most affected by DIY are floors, fittings, and storage.
The pitfall here is that it's easy to move backwards due to the order of construction. If you buy it, the storage space will be hell.
Takara Standard (from orders placed on April 1, 2026)
Takara Standard has issued a notice of price revision "from orders placed on or after April 1, 2026."Hashimoto Sogyo Co., Ltd.
The revision rate is written for each product, such as 7 to 10% for a kitchen set example.Hashimoto Sogyo Co., Ltd.
What you need to be careful about when doing DIY is that it is not a "last minute purchase".
When it comes to kitchen units, if you don't plan on-site dimensions and fit, you'll end up with a worst-case combination of ``it won't fit'', ``you can't read the delivery date'', and ``the piping doesn't match up''. If you are in a hurry, the first thing you should do is not to purchase, but to ``determine the plan and dimensions.''
Deciding on a last-minute purchase by asking 5 questions

Even if a price increase is confirmed, not everyone should rush in. Especially if you are doing DIY, you will be less likely to have an accident if you mechanically sort the items using the following five methods.
Question 1: Are the specifications (product number, color, style) "confirmed"?
If you are not sure, don't make last-minute purchases.
When it comes to fittings and sashes, there are many simple items such as ``left and right hand'', ``frame orientation'', ``opening direction'', and ``handle color''.
Question 2: Is there a place to store it? Can you eliminate the risk of humidity, sunlight, and deformation?
Wood-based materials (flooring materials and fittings) are prone to warping and twisting due to fluctuations in moisture content (simply put, ``the dimensions change due to absorbing and expelling moisture'').
If you are making a last-minute decision, decide on storage conditions first.
- "Thick stretch film that can be used to store flooring materials"
- "Slatted/Pallet (lifted off the floor)"
- "Dehumidifier/Hygrometer"
Even if you buy something like this, it is directly connected to the work.
Question 3: Does it have a long delivery time?
Delivery times for windows, entrance doors, kitchens, and some exterior parts are difficult to predict, so it is worth placing orders before prices go up. On the other hand, there is no need to rush when it comes to consumables that can be purchased immediately.
Question 4: Is the price increase targeted for "large amount categories"?
Even if it is 5%, if it is 1 million yen, it is 50,000 yen.
The higher the unit price, such as floors, fittings, windows, and kitchens, the more cost-effective the last-minute construction will be.
Question 5: Do you understand the cancellation policy?
When manufacturing to order is involved, it is common for orders not to be cancelled. With DIY, it's easy to get lost in the process, so if you rush into the process without making this point vague, you'll end up losing money instead of avoiding price increases.
2026 If you want to make a move before the price rises, what to do before “buying”
This is simple, but it works.
1) Confirm the base date for price increase in "Order acceptance/Order placement/Shipping"
LIXIL clearly states that it is based on orders received.LIXIL Corporation.
Panasonic also clearly indicates the revision date for each item.Panasonic Newsroom Global
If there is no such clear statement (or it is based on reports), the quickest way is to check the documentation at the store.
2) Leave the "expiration date of quotation" and "conditions for price deferral" in writing.
Even with the same “estimate”,
- Prices are not guaranteed until orders are received.
- Order must be placed within 〇 days
- Logistics costs vary separately
etc. are possible. If you do DIY, it's easier to mess up later, so it's safer to leave it by email.
3) Make the storage area and delivery line first
The more expensive building materials you buy, the more your home becomes a material warehouse the moment you receive it.
The success or failure of a last-minute purchase is often determined by "logistics and storage" rather than construction ability (and this is the source of the most stress).
Manufacturers and items whose prices have already increased recently

Why do prices continue to rise?

Manufacturers tend to cite raw materials, fuel, logistics, and exchange rates as reasons for price increases. LIXIL mentions the impact of raw materials, parts, logistics costs, etc.LIXIL Corporation
The construction cost index also shows an increase in the index for housing (wooden construction).Construction price portal
In addition, peer-reviewed studies overseas have generally concluded that disruptions in the supply network lead to increases in construction materials and equipment prices.athensjournals.gr.
In other words, DIY-wise,
It is OK to understand that this is a phase in which the costs of not only ``the materials themselves'' but also ``transportation, production, and inventory'' are accumulating.
Summary: Last-minute purchases are only for those who meet the “winning conditions”
- At least LIXIL, Panasonic, Eitai Sangyo, Takara Standard, and YKK AP (report) have announced price revisions for 2026.Shinken Housing等
- It is easy to make a profit with last-minute purchases in high-priced categories such as windows, doors, kitchens, floors, and fittings.
- However, in DIY, if the storage location and specifications are weak, you are likely to lose.
- If you are unsure, you will be less likely to lose if you start by ``confirming order standards'', ``writing quotation conditions'', and ``creating a storage environment''.
